Adobe Revel team member Jennifer shares a few memories from her recent weekend adventure in Yosemite and reflects on the Rim Fire. What places hold special meaning for you?
Just a few weeks ago, we went exploring in Yosemite, hiking from Tuolumne Meadows (my favorite place on the planet) to Glen Aulin to Tenaya Lake via Murphy Creek. What a beautiful and inspiring route!
Leaving the Meadows, we started to encounter more granite. Obviously a glacier once passed through here!
The elevation started to drop, and it really got exciting! The views were breathtaking.
We encountered several swimming holes and waterfalls on the way to Glen Aulin and had fun snapping photos of ourselves along the way!
At Glen Aulin, the water was cold, but the view was so worth it! I wish we could have stayed longer.
News of the Rim Fire has been terrifying and heartbreaking. There are so many firefighters lives at risk, homes that may be lost, and beautiful places in peril. I know that burning and regrowth are part of the natural cycle, but I worry what scars this fire will leave and how long they will last. While I wait for better news, I cling to my fond memories in Yosemite more tightly, and my experiences in the park feel even more precious.
